I reached out to the schools in the underprivileged region of Bardiya district of Nepal where the students lack awareness, resources, and opportunities.
The project 'EmpowHer' was conducted in rural parts of Bardiya District of Nepal in 2023, targeting students from local community schools. This project aimed to empower young girls in two different topics namely climate change and management of menstrual health and hygiene. I was directly involved in this project as a project lead and a facilitator for the awareness sessions.
I and my team of the Women Welfare Foundation initiated this project ' Education First' towards the end of 2022 with the motive of providing free education and scholarships to underprivileged, economically disadvantaged, and marginalized girl children from different parts of the country. In 2023 we successfully provided scholarships to 7 girls residing in the rural part of Terathum district. We also supported with stationary materials to more than 30 needy girls from Kathmandu, Bardia, and Terathum districts.
I, together with the Women Welfare Foundation team, supported needy girl children in orphanage homes with stationary and educational materials.
I believe educating and empowering young girls helps to minimize numerous societal problems including child marriage and gender-based violence.
I got the opportunity to work as a Monitoring and Evaluation officer in a capacity-building program on legal identity (citizenship and birth registration) which was targeted to provincial-level networks and Lawyers.
I was involved in several projects related to sexual and reproductive health rights while working with non-profits like Visible Impact and the Forum for Women Law and Development (FWLD) in 2022 and 2023.
In 2023, I got the opportunity to take part in three policy discussions as monitoring and evaluation officer of Forum for Women Law and Development with minister and parliamentarians in capital city of Nepal. The topics of the discussions were about safe motherhood act, sexual and reproductive health rights, gender and climate issues.
I am continuously working and advocating for gender equality and women's empowerment through various programs and advocacy efforts.
Since climate change has been one of the major global problems, I am working to educate and empower youths and women at the grassroots level on this topic.
I have attended numerous conferences on gender, climate, sexual and reproductive health rights, etc, which has enhanced my knowledge and skills. Through these platforms, I am also putting efforts to bring grassroots problems to light seeking solutions.
As a Program Manager of Women Welfare Foundation, I took the lead role and responsibility to conduct climate literacy program targeting to rural women in Bardiya District of Nepal. This project was more focused on interrelationship between gender and climate and its impact and mitigation methods.
On my leadership, women welfare foundation has successfully conducted climate literacy program in multiple community schools of Nepal. The motive of this program is to educate and empower young people regarding climate change, its impact and also teaching them Eco-friendly habits and mitigation methods.
Till present I have provided awareness/ educational sessions and workshops to more than 200 students on the topic of gender equality , climate change and menstrual health and hygiene to name a few.
Since Radios are one of the most common means of media and advocacy to spread awareness in rural part of Nepal, I am continuously working to advocate for climate and gender literacy using that platform to reach the wider audience.
I trained and empowered rural women( now called as Eco-Women Champions) of Neulapur village of bardiya District in Nepal regarding interrelationship between gender and climate change, its impact and mitigation methods. Now they are working as change agents in their communities encouraging others to adopt Eco-friendly habits.
I am continuously working and advocating to promote and encourage girls education since many girls in Nepal are still deprived from this opportunity. Due to not having required level of education many girls are forced to have early marriage, early pregnancy and become the victim of domestic violence and many other societal problems. So educating girl child could reduce many societal problems making them independent and capable for many opportunities.
The objective of this session was to equip freshers entering the job market with crucial insights to uncover potential opportunities.
